【摘要】:1.1ThispracticedescribesmethodsfordeterminingthespecimenareacontributingtothedetectedsignalinAugerelectronspectrometersandsometypesofX-rayphotoelectronspectrometerswhenthisareaisdefinedbytheelectroncollectionlensandaperturesystemoftheelectronenergyanalyzer.ThepracticeisapplicableonlytothoseX-rayphotoelectronspectrometersinwhichthespecimenareaexcitedbytheincidentX-raybeamislargerthanthespecimenareaviewedbytheanalyzer,inwhichthephotoelectronstravelinafield-freeregionfromthespecimentotheanalyzerentrance,andinwhichanauxiliaryelectronguncanbemountedtoproduceanelectronbeamofvariableenergyonthespecimen.1.2Thispracticeisrecommendedasausefulmeansfordeterminingthespecimenareaviewedbytheanalyzerfordifferentconditionsofspectrometeroperation,forverifyingadequatespecimenandbeamalignment,andforcharacterizingtheimagingpropertiesoftheelectronenergyanalyzer.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
