【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresthatcanbefollowedtosafeguardagainstthepossibleembrittlementofsteelhot-dipgalvanizedafterfabrication,andoutlinestestproceduresfordetectingembrittlement.Conditionsoffabricationmayinduceasusceptibilitytoembrittlementincertainsteelsthatcanbeacceleratedbygalvanizing.Embrittlementisnotacommonoccurrence,however,andthisdiscussiondoesnotimplythatgalvanizingincreasesembrittlementwheregoodfabricatingandgalvanizingproceduresareemployed.Wherehistoryhasshownthatforspecificsteels,processesandgalvanizingprocedureshavebeensatisfactory,thishistorywillserveasanindicationthatnoembrittlementproblemistobeexpectedforthosesteels,processes,andgalvanizingprocedures.1.2Thispracticeisapplicableineitherinch-poundsorSIunits.Inch-poundsandSIunitsarenotnecessarilyexactequivalents.Withinthetextofthispracticeandwhereappropriate,SIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
